A New You for a New Year with Jabra at Best Buy

New You

I don’t know if I’m the only one who gets hyped up at the end of each year, but I love New Year’s. A new year is so full of potential, so full of opportunities, and so full of possibilities; how could I not look forward to a fresh start every year?!

Setting goals for a new year

Most people set out to make New Year’s resolutions about getting fit, eating healthy, etc. I can’t say that I don’t do that as well, however, the difference is that when I decide I’m going to do something, I make attainable goals instead of just a wish for the coming year. I make a list of things that I can actually work toward achieving, and decide on an overall goal that I would like to achieve.

Last year my goals revolved around finances. My husband and I worked diligently toward paying off our debt so that all we would have left is a little on our mortgage. We achieved that goal, and this year have set our sights on health. While that was also one of my husbands goals last year (he lost 90 pounds by cutting out sugar), this year we are taking it up a notch and I’m joining him in the journey!

Living Healthier

Our overall goal for the new year is to live a healthier lifestyle that includes physical fitness, eating right, and living a more stress-free lifestyle. The fitness part of that equation is what I know will be the toughest for me. It always helps when you have a partner to push you along, so joining my husband in this journey will be a great motivator for me!

Physical Fitness

Something that really helps me, especially if I’m trying to do some type of physical activity on my own, is listening to some great workout music. I’ve done a little research and I am ready to take training to the next level and get the ultimate wireless workout with Jabra Sport Pulse Wireless earbuds.  The Jabra Sport Pulse Wireless is an all-in-one training solution that combines an in-ear biometric heart rate monitor, immersive Dolby® Digital sound and real-time voice coaching. I’m hopeful that the US Military grade durability certifications will inspire me to beat my best performance time and time again.

Training to the next level - Jabra

Other than a great set of wireless earbuds, having a plan is also essential. I know there will be days when I’m super busy and will barely have time to get dinner on the table much-less get a workout in. Planning a fitness schedule around those super busy days will ensure that I stay on track and don’t get discouraged. I highly recommend anyone who is looking to add in a little physical activity to their routine do the same. It can be as simple as writing it out on a whiteboard each week or adding a fitness app to your phone.

If you want some added support/motivation feel free to join my newly created healthy living group on Facebook. It is just a place for like-minded individuals to go for support, questions, chat, tools, advice, and encouragement!

Healthy Eating

As my husband always says, “it isn’t a diet, it is a lifestyle change”. Those words couldn’t ring more true. If you are truly looking to lose weight, keep it off, and get healthier, you cannot think of food in terms of dieting. You MUST think of permanent changes in your lifestyle when it comes to the foods you eat. Giving up sugar, carbs, or any other number of things for a month or two at a time isn’t going to do anything for you if you just jump right back into eating the very things that got you where you are in the first place. Make real changes. Make lifestyle changes. Eat to live, don’t live to eat.

So tell us…

Do you have any health and/or fitness goals for the coming year?

What is one change you can make today that is attainable and permanent?

I would love to eat healthier and exercise more. Of course when I set a new years resolution I hardly ever stick to it. I’m going to try harder this year. I hope we all have a great new year!

That’s why I don’t do resolutions, Kathy. I set goals for myself with deadlines so I can keep myself accountable. Good luck to you and feel free to join my new FB group if you want a little extra motivation! 🙂

I plan on eating healthier and exercising more. The first thing I am going to do is cut out sugar and junk food.

Great plan! My husband lost a ton of weight cutting out sugar and now he is on me to cut it out too (for health not weight reasons). Wanna join me?

I want to eat better. Bake better and just feel better about myself. I’ve had 6 kids and no where near where I want to be body and mind wise. So I will be working hard at that!

You’ll get there – just keep at it! Six kids is a toll on the body too, so don’t be too hard on yourself. 🙂

Congrats to your husband on losing 90 lbs! That is an amazing feat, I’m sure you 2 will be able to achieve lots working together! It’s one of my goals to cut sugar out of my regular diet as well. I did okay for a few months last year, but after Halloween it was all downhill for me. Hopefully I will have better luck this year!

Thanks, he is doing fabulous and maintaining! I also cut back on sugar but started sliding after Halloween. I’m ready to give it a stronger go this time though!

Having a healthier lifestyle has become a popular goal and it should be good. It’s good that a lot of people have started to love their bodies more by wanting to commit to regular exercise and eating clean & right. As for me, I will try to totally let go of diet soda this year and the year after this. It’s something that I was able to quit before but it has become a bad habit again coz of stress eating. This year marks the start of a no diet soda lifestyle.

I know what you mean about stress eating. I was a regular drinker of soda (full sugar kind) but managed to just give it up cold turkey one day. It was a great choice and a HUGE step in the right direction! I know you can do it!! Feel free to join my FB group linked in this post if you want some encouragement and support. 🙂

Wow, congrats to your husband on losing 90 pounds last year- thats huge! It sounds like you have a good plan in place which is always important to achieving your resolutions. I don’t have any particular fitness goals set for this year beyond just maintaining- and hopefully, looking good when I go to the dominican in April!

Thanks! Yes, planning is key in my opinion or you are just doomed to fail. Worked out with hubby for the first time in a long time last night and it was so much easier with him there doing it with me. Have fun on your trip!

I am just getting back to running after an injury. Perfect timing since snow is everywhere and I can not get out. I am using the treadmill for now. I am making baby goals so I do not push too hard – I do not want more down time from being stupid and over doing it! I need new headphones (the dog literally ate mine) Jabra makes great ones. I will be in town today and running by Best Buy so I will add them to the list.

Kudos to your husband on his weight loss, and best wishes to you on your journey! It’s great that you can share your experiences – it makes it more fun for both of you, and having support helps soooo much. My husband and I also made vows to each other to keep in shape and to keep each other motivated to do so – it works wonderfully. 🙂 Cheers to 2015!

Great information and motivation! My goal this year is to get more active – I’m starting small with walking 30-45 minutes 3 times a week. I’m, also, committing to drinking more water and reducing the amount of caffeine I consume during the day. Baby steps!

Those ear buds sound really neat. I hate how the cord of my ear buds gets tangled up. I also hate how I sometimes bump the cord when I am moving causing them to come out of my ears. Arrrrghh.

No real fitness goals for myself at present. As a casual listener I love that these have no cord or wire, they always seem to get in the way.
