Pre-order MIB3 and stream the movie before you get your disks! #cbias #SEEMIB3

My husband is a HUGE Will Smith fan!  This goes all the way back to the Fresh Prince of Bel-Aire days. If you are too young to know what that is then google it and find it on syndication somewhere—a must watch! I mean there must be some channel out there playing Fresh Prince reruns, right?  :-)

Since the hubs is such a huge Will Smith fan, when I saw that MIB3 was being released at the end of November, I just knew we had to get it!  Take a look at this trailer and tell me you don’t want to watch this movie!

Now I know you can go online and pre-order most movies, but I recently learned of a much better way to pre-order movies!

There is a service called VUDU, which allows you to purchase the pre-order in Walmart stores, and then when you register your purchase not only will the disk be shipped out to you a couple of days before the release date, but you will also get an instant streaming version of the same movie available almost 15 days before you get the disk in the mail!  Plus there is no extra charge for this service!

Earlier this week I had to run to my local Walmart and pick up some groceries, so I figured I would go ahead and look for the MIB3 pre-order option while I was there and take advantage of this cool new service.

The main thing I came to the store for was to stock up on some canned veggies, because Old Mother Hubbard’s cupboard is bare bones right now (and by Old Mother Hubbard I mean me, lol); but I was so excited to get the movie that the electronics department was the first place in the store I headed.  Looks like you can also pre-order Spiderman.  :-)

I grabbed the blu-ray version and threw it in my cart, then I was off to get carrots and peas!  I found this cute little number while I was browsing around the frozen foods:

I mean, who wouldn’t want Green Bay Packers ice cream…except maybe Bears fans, and Lions fans, and Vikings fans; but we all know the Packers are the best anyway.  :-)

After getting everything I needed I couldn’t wait to get home and set-up my VUDU account and reserve my pre-ordered MIB3 copy!

The package itself doesn’t actually have a disk in it, but rather a code that you can use to redeem your digital copy, as well as order your hard copy of the movie.  It looks like this:

I do have to say that I’m a little torn on this packaging, I mean it seems like kind of a waste to have an entire blu-ray case with nothing actually in it.  Of course, you can always use the case to store other DVDs or Blu-rays that may be missing their cases, but I’d rather see maybe just a recyclable cardboard slip or something instead.

In either case, redeeming my movie was super easy!  The first thing you do is head to the vudu website at vudu.com/mib3 and simply enter the redemption code found in the packaging.

Once you enter the code it asks you to either sign up as a new Vudu customer, or sign in if you already have an account.

You then need to connect your existing UltraViolet account, or create a new account.  UltraViolet is the service that allows you to collect and store digital versions of your favorite movies; and by using Vudu you can stream them to a number of devices. The best part is that it is free to sign up, and you get one free movie when you activate your account!

We are going to use our Playstation 3 to watch MIB3 in our home theater, but you can choose from quite a few devices.  What I love is that you can rent movies right from the comfort of your home, stream them, and don’t have to worry about running to town to return a movie!

This whole process was a ton of fun and super easy!  I just love learning about new services that make my life much simpler.  If you want to view my full shopping trip please feel free to check out my google+ album to see everything I got and how the trip went!

The packaging says the UltraViolet digital version will be available for me to stream starting 11/16/12, so stay tuned as I will be updating you on how the process goes.  It will be my first time doing this after all, and I will of course have to share with you!  I’m pretty sure we will be having lots of friends over to share the movie experience with us, so make sure to check back at the end of November!

I have heard of VUDU, but I didn’t know much about it. I have a feeling I’m going to get addicted! Thanks for the info!

I love VUDU! We just have trouble with the speed of internet in our area. It just keep buffering and was very aggravating. It was perfect before we moved. That is one thing I am looking into now, for our home purchase. I will be using VUDU again.

I agree, the case seems a bit of a waste :(
Green bay ice cream? YUM! I’ll have to see if they sell it out here anywhere.

I agree, the packaging does seem wasteful, and possibly even misleading. I personally like to own the disc and I don’t digitally download any movies, so if I mistakenly purchased that thinking it was the disc, I’d be mad!

    • Jesica H. October 26, 2012 at 12:00 pm #

Yeah…it is pretty clearly marked on the outside that it is pre-order though so I don’t think you’d have an issue. Even if you did do that you are pre-ordering to get the discs in the mail, so you WILL have the discs, just not until they are released. Hope that clears up any confusion!

Oh, and you are not downloading… they are all stored in your ultraviolet account and you stream them. Nothing to download!

Michael would marry Will Smith if he could so MIB3 is on our must see list!

We did this with Taken 2. Of course, my husband didn’t read what he was buying when he was in the store :) Anyway we watched it online and actually got the disk a week early. We have it now and the movie doesn’t come out until Tuesday!
