I love when stores offer loyalty programs. If I’m going to shop at a store I might as well get rewarded for doing so right? I just found out that one of my favorite stores is rolling out a new loyalty program and I am so excited!
Walgreens is launching a new rewards program called Balance Rewards. Why am I excited about this? Well for one I shop at Walgreens all the time. Any prescriptions I need, I fill there. If I forgot my toothbrush when out of town I head to Walgreens. There is a Walgreens in almost every town I visit, so anytime I need a quick snack, need to get something I forgot, or just need to stock up on cold & flu remedies, I head to Walgreens.
The best part, if you pre-enroll in the Balance Rewards program (it launches officially on Sept. 16th), you will be entered to win 1 million loyalty points right off the bat! Since you can redeem as little as 5000 points for cash, 1 million is a lot of rewards to redeem! I couldn’t wait to sign up and I sure hope I win, I could really use the extra spending money to use at Walgreens!
If you want to sign up for Balance Rewards (why not, it’s free and you could win!), head on over to Walgreens and simply click Join Now. It is so easy to sign up, and so worth it if you spend any time shopping at Walgreens. To show you how easy it is I went ahead and created my own account so I could show you how simple it is to enroll. (To view any photos larger, just click on them)
Once you head over to the Balance Rewards section on the Walgreens site you should get a screen that looks like this:
Hit Join Now and it will ask you to sign into your existing Walgreens account (if you have one), or create a new account. If you have already visited a Walgreens store and signed up for Balance Rewards you can activate it here, or create a new membership.
Once you have your account created you should see your Balance Rewards dashboard. It says your membership is being created (remember it won’t be live until Sept. 16th, but you need to create the account ahead of time to be eligible to win the 1 million loyalty points!).
Now you can simply browse around the Walgreens site, create a shopping list, order photos, view the weekly ad, and much more! My suggestion would be to download the mobile app right away so you have it handy. It is a great tool that allows you to do just about all of the same features you see here, as well as check your rewards balance. To download the app simply click the button on the top left that says Download App.
Then choose if you want the app from the App Store for iphone, or from the Google play store for android. I have an android phone so I got mine from the Google play store.
To put the app to the test I did a little shopping trip on my mobile phone. This actually worked out really well because my local Walgreens doesn’t carry some of the items you can get by ordering online. I wanted to stock up on some cold & flu season items for me and the kids (I actually just got over being sick and used up the last of our Nyquil so we definitely need more!).
First I used the categories to browse around and found a few things that way.
Did you know Boogie Wipes are not in every store? I found these while browsing around. Good thing I ordered online; now my kids will have something soft to wipe their little noses with!
After putting the Boogie Wipes and some Blistex in the cart, I used the search bar to find Nyquil. I want to have some on hand because no one likes making a last minute trip to the store when you are sick!
After getting everything we needed it was time to check out. The process couldn’t have been simpler. Once you are finished you just click Checkout and enter your payment information. Everything will be shipped right to your door, and if your order is $25 or more shipping is always free!
If you want to see my full shopping experience using the Balance Rewards program and the Walgreens Mobile App, check out my Google + album. Not only can you see how easy it is to shop online, but also learn how to sign up for the program with step-by-step directions!
