Behind? No problem…you can start this challenge at any time and on any day. You can find all the posts in the 4 Weeks to a Clutter Free Home challenge here.
With the last holiday weekend of the summer behind us, the kids back in school, and fall coming up….I’m ready to really whip my house into shape, are you?!!
As we move into our third week of challenges I have to admit, my motivation has been dwindling. But just think, this week and next week and we’ll have done it! We will have removed nearly 150 items from our homes that we don’t use/don’t need, and tidied up a bit! Keep on pushing…it is worth it!
So as you may have noticed, today is Tuesday (after taking a long break over the holiday weekend), so this week will actually run Tuesday – Saturday for me instead of Mon-Fri. I’m not worried about the change, but if you can’t make the adjustment due to your schedule, feel free to fit in what you can.
Challenge #11
- Make a list of 5-10 goals you would like to accomplish over the course of this week. Sit down with a nice relaxing cup of coffee or tea, and brainstorm some realistic goals that you want to achieve to make your house feel more like a home. I’ve included a free printable here: Weekly Goals. Please note that this form is pretty open ended. You can use each block as a main category and list details, or you can use each block as a day of the week. If you use as days of the week, there will be one day missing. Take a day of rest, or you can combine Sat/Sun (or any other two days) into one.
- Find 5 items to get rid of today. Throw them out, put them in a bin designated for donation items or in a garage sale box. You can also give them to a friend or list them to sell, but make it a goal not to hang onto anything for more than a week. If it doesn’t sell, donate it.
- Set a timer for 15 minutes and quickly pick-up the main areas of your home! Put things back that may have gotten out of place over the weekend, and just tidy up a bit. If you have time, vacuum or sweep while your are at it. Sometimes this takes a bit more than 15 minutes for me after getting after the kids about picking up their toys. 🙂
If you feel you are not very good at setting your own goals and making lists, feel free to follow my plan. Work on your kitchen today, along with the other bullet points, and tomorrow we will have a new area to tackle!
Keep in mind, I do work a full time job outside the home, so all of these tasks are designed to be easily completed regardless of your other commitments.

(Please note: I am not an expert in organization by any means. I simply did a lot of research online and found many many resources on how to accomplish what it is I am looking to do. From there I came up with my own plan for what I thought would be a great way to achieve the goal of an organized home in four weeks. Feel free to take all the time and energy I put into researching this and try to organize your own home!).
