If you have kids between the ages of 7-12 you probably know what Kaijudo is. The new Kaijudo: Rise of the Duel Masters premiered on Saturday, June 2 at 8 pm ET/PT on The Hub TV network, and we had a chance to host a premiere party looking at this animated action-fantasy series first hand! The show follows the adventures of a young hero, Ray, who possesses the rare ability to befriend and duel alongside fantastical creatures from a parallel dimension. Evil forces would have these creatures tamed and enslaved, so Ray and his two best friends must join the ranks of the mysterious Duel Masters to ensure the survival of both races before it’s too late.
The premiere party was a big success and we had just as much fun during our pre-party activities as we did watching the episodes! The kids were very excited and spent a lot of time trying to be ninjas, it was so much fun! We had cupcakes and played for about 2 hours before we watched the episodes.
The kids at the party ranged in age from 2 years to 10 years. Here are thoughts from their point of view: The three boys (4,6, and 7 years) love the TV show. They were playing ninjas and actually sat down and didn’t move the whole time the show was on. The two year old girl watched it as she kicked and pretended to be like the boys. They all claimed that they loved it and they want to watch more. The 10 year girl old claimed it just wasn’t for her age, but it was more for the boys at the party and their age group. She said, “It is just not something my friends and I would watch.” However if you ask the boys, they kept wanting to re-watch the episodes, so it was definitely a hit with them.
In my opinion this was a great experience for us. The kids enjoyed it and they wanted more, plus they were so excited that they got headbands to wear. The episodes were perfect for their age and it fit right into what they all love. This is going to be something that the kids look forward to watching on TV. I can’t wait for more to come out so that they can all get together and watch more. The boys even dressed up my husband in a headband and attemped to get him to play ninja… he did a sneak attack on them. 🙂 Great ending to the party!
