I don’t know if I’m the only one who gets hyped up at the end of each year, but I love New Year’s. A new year is so full of potential, so full of opportunities, and so full of possibilities; how could I not look forward to a fresh start every year?!
Setting goals for a new year
Most people set out to make New Year’s resolutions about getting fit, eating healthy, etc. I can’t say that I don’t do that as well, however, the difference is that when I decide I’m going to do something, I make attainable goals instead of just a wish for the coming year. I make a list of things that I can actually work toward achieving, and decide on an overall goal that I would like to achieve.
Last year my goals revolved around finances. My husband and I worked diligently toward paying off our debt so that all we would have left is a little on our mortgage. We achieved that goal, and this year have set our sights on health. While that was also one of my husbands goals last year (he lost 90 pounds by cutting out sugar), this year we are taking it up a notch and I’m joining him in the journey!
Living Healthier
Our overall goal for the new year is to live a healthier lifestyle that includes physical fitness, eating right, and living a more stress-free lifestyle. The fitness part of that equation is what I know will be the toughest for me. It always helps when you have a partner to push you along, so joining my husband in this journey will be a great motivator for me!
Physical Fitness
Something that really helps me, especially if I’m trying to do some type of physical activity on my own, is listening to some great workout music. I’ve done a little research and I am ready to take training to the next level and get the ultimate wireless workout with Jabra Sport Pulse Wireless earbuds. The Jabra Sport Pulse Wireless is an all-in-one training solution that combines an in-ear biometric heart rate monitor, immersive Dolby® Digital sound and real-time voice coaching. I’m hopeful that the US Military grade durability certifications will inspire me to beat my best performance time and time again.
Other than a great set of wireless earbuds, having a plan is also essential. I know there will be days when I’m super busy and will barely have time to get dinner on the table much-less get a workout in. Planning a fitness schedule around those super busy days will ensure that I stay on track and don’t get discouraged. I highly recommend anyone who is looking to add in a little physical activity to their routine do the same. It can be as simple as writing it out on a whiteboard each week or adding a fitness app to your phone.

Healthy Eating
As my husband always says, “it isn’t a diet, it is a lifestyle change”. Those words couldn’t ring more true. If you are truly looking to lose weight, keep it off, and get healthier, you cannot think of food in terms of dieting. You MUST think of permanent changes in your lifestyle when it comes to the foods you eat. Giving up sugar, carbs, or any other number of things for a month or two at a time isn’t going to do anything for you if you just jump right back into eating the very things that got you where you are in the first place. Make real changes. Make lifestyle changes. Eat to live, don’t live to eat.
