I’ve had a memory foam mattress for a while now and just ordered another for our son. One of the main questions I hear when others are considering a mattress like this is, “are memory foam mattresses good for sleep, pain, or pressure points?”
Based on my own experience, I can tell you the answer to all of those questions is yes, but I found a bit more research based info to share with you as well. Read our Full Review on the Nectar Mattress HERE.
Are Memory Foam Mattresses Good?
You spend 1/3 of your life in bed. You want a mattress that will support you and feel good to sleep on. So what about these foam beds? Are memory foam mattresses any good? Can they really provide support and comfort?
Durable – memory foam has the benefit of lasting longer than 5yrs (or more) with minimal loss of support. I can say from personal experience that my old spring mattress didn’t last that long and a noticeable dip occurred rather quickly.
Sleep Cool – Some, not all, memory foam mattresses will add in a gel layer and/or a cotton type cover to allow for proper air flow, keeping you cool as you sleep instead of overheated.
Posture Support – The idea here, according to WebMD, is that “When you lie on the memory foam, the heat from your body softens it in the appropriate points, so this helps to support your body along the curves and natural lines of the body.” Memory foam manufacturers claim this helps relieve pain and thereby promotes more restful sleep.
Minimizing Movement – Without the coiled springs, you feel your sleep partner’s movements less, which allows for a more restful night sleep as you are not disturbed as often throughout the night.
Low Maintenance – Unlike a spring mattress, memory foam mattresses do not have to be flipped or rotated. There is no maintenance required apart from keeping the cover and sheets clean.
Cost – The cost of a durable memory foam mattress is relatively low for all the benefits you get. You can get a king size mattress for less than $900 on sale with some manufacturers, and smaller mattresses cost even less!
Trial Period – A good mattress manufacturer, like The Nectar Sleep Mattress, will offer an extended trial and warranty so you have ample time to decide if you truly like sleeping on the mattress.
NECTAR Sleep Mattress
The Nectar Mattress is what I recently ordered for my son. There are several reasons why I think this is a great option, and with their 365-night trial you can always find out for yourself – are memory foam mattresses good?
365 Nights Free Trial
NECTAR is so confident in the quality of their mattresses they give you a full 365 days to decide whether you want to keep your NECTAR Mattress or not. That means you can sleep on the mattress every day for a full year and if you decide on that last day you just weren’t satisfied with the past year’s sleep, you can still return it.
The NECTAR Mattress Forever Warranty
For the first 5 years of ownership, NECTAR will replace your mattress with a brand new one at absolutely no charge to you if defective. In years 5+ NECTAR will completely repair and re-cover your mattress or replace it if necessary.
How is the NECTAR Mattress Constructed?
The thickest layer is the bottom or Breathable Base Layer. This layer is a 2.2-pound high-density foam base, which means if you had a 12-inch cube of this foam, it would weight 2.2 pounds.
Above the base layer is a layer of Hi Core Adaptive foam. This is the layer that provides contouring to your body and adapts the mattress to your pressure points. It’s designed to bounce back when you leave the bed, making sure you never get permanent indentations in the mattress.
The first three layers of the mattress combine to keep you cool while you sleep.
The removable Tencel and long staple cotton cooling cover on the outside wicks away any moisture generated while you sleep.
The quilted gel memory foam layer below lifts you up and helps improve airflow through the mattress.
The third layer made of Lush Foam gel memory foam absorbs and distributes heat to further assist in giving you a comfortable night’s sleep.
In addition, edges of the NECTAR Mattress are consistently firm, meaning you won’t feel like you are sagging off the bed while sitting on the edge.
Are memory foam mattresses good? I think so, and with a long trial period and a great warranty, you can find out for yourself with no obligation and no hassle!
