I use Grammarly’s plagiarism checker because only five year olds like a copy-cat! (I know you are but what am I? I know you are but what am I? –ugh, parenting woes!)
Looking for some awesome game day appetizers? My husband always makes his signature Beer Bread with Creamy Garlic Dip any time we have a game day party, and he has graciously allowed me to share his recipe with you! He even baked up a loaf of this marvelous bread just so I could have some and share!
His annual March Madness viewing party will be coming up next month and I’m sure this will be on the menu as usual – we just can’t get enough! Trust me, once you and your friends/family taste this bread (if you choose to share) it will probably become a staple at any of your game day parties too!
Beer Bread with optional flax seed
- 3 cups self-rising flour
- ½ cup sugar
- 12 ounces beer
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- Optional:
- 1-2 tablespoons ground flax seed
- 1 handful whole flax seed
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
- Butter a loaf pan and set aside. In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and beer (and optional ground flax seed) and mix well. The mixture should be sticky. Pour into the loaf pan and bake for 55 minutes. At the last 3 minutes of baking, remove from oven, brush the top of the loaf with butter and return to oven.
This bread wouldn’t be as good as it is without that awesome Creamy Garlic Dip though. The recipe is so simple and easy to make you will not believe you haven’t tried this before…oh, any my husband says don’t skimp out on game day food. This isn’t a day for dieting so just get the full fat versions and go with it! 😉
Creamy Garlic Dip
Ingredients:
- 3/4 cup sour cream
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1/2 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper (optional for those who like a little heat)
- 1/2 tablespoon dried parsley
Instructions:
In a medium bowl, mix together sour cream, mayonnaise, garlic powder, crushed red pepper and dried parsley. Serve immediately or refrigerate overnight for full flavor.
I actually prefer to leave out the crushed red pepper as I don’t like the heat, I’m really a wuss when it comes to hot foods and prefer to actually taste my food instead of burning my taste-buds off. 😯 We also left out the dried parsley this time because, well… we didn’t have any.
