If you are like me, you don’t like spending more money than you have to but you still like to have all the best amenities when you travel. I’m what you would call a “budget luxury” traveler (my own term). Case in point, Orlando. On our recent vacation, we were looking for the best places to stay in Orlando with a family that would allow us the freedom of space, yet wouldn’t cost me my child’s college education fund.
So Many Options – What To Pick?!
It’s true, Orlando is tourist central and there are a TON of options for where you can stay. If you are traveling specifically to go to Disney, I wrote a post a while back about deciding whether to stay on-site or off-site at Disney (check it out, there is really good info for you).
If you are not in Orlando just for the sake of Disney, you are going to want to pick a resort that can offer your family the best bang for your buck. Our recent visit took us to Sea World, Universal Studios, Legoland, and Busch Gardens, so we needed a place we could really call home at the end of each busy day and just spread out to unwind.
Choosing a Resort Villa
My family has been to Orlando quite often (we are from Wisconsin), my husband even used to work in the Disney College Program once upon a time, so we are quite familiar with many of the lodging options. The best places to stay in Orlando with a family always end up being resort villas.
My Top Pick for a Budget Wise and Family Friendly Place to Stay
The Best Western Premier Saratoga Resort Villas was our villa of choice for our most recent stay, and to say that my expectations were met would be an understatement.
A Few Amenities at Saratoga Resort Villas
- Two and Three bedroom villas with private waterfront balconies
- A loft area for additional lounging and sleeping
- Supreme comfort – 400 thread count Egyptian cotton linen
- Full kitchens to avoid dining out every night
- A large TV in every room – everyone can unwind to their own show at the end of the day!
- Elevated boardwalks and gazebos for scenic walking
- Heated Swimming pool and hot tub, plus a fun playground for the kids
- Game room, fitness center, and laundry facilities
I cannot speak highly enough about having enough space to spread out at the end of the day. We were a group of seven, with five children, and allowing each child to spread out and get some alone time at the end of some very busy days helped keep us all happy and sane. The loft area was a great bonus because it allowed my two daughters to escape from the other kids and relax with their own cartoons in their own space.
I also walked the grounds early in the morning just to clear my head before a long day with kids. It was very peaceful and beautiful; a great way to start the day!
Beautiful & Luxurious Rooms
A Full Kitchen
Having a kitchen was also ideal for making a quick breakfast so we could be on the road and to our destination nice and early.
Two Full Bathrooms
Being cooped up in any space, small or big, is no fun when you don’t have enough bathrooms to go around. With two full bathrooms, the Best Western Premier Saratoga Resort Villas have you covered. One bathroom is off of one of the bedrooms and features a full shower.
The second bathroom is off the main living/loft area and has a full bathtub, which came in handy for our two youngest to take baths.
Extra Perks
We also took full advantage of the laundry facilities. We were on an 11-day trip, so doing laundry was a must. And the kids were sure to take advantage of the swimming pool. We weren’t really there to swim, but they really wanted to use the pool so we made sure to make time to do so.
While we didn’t have a ton of time on our schedule, and it rained just about every day due to a Hurricane, there is a playground on site if your kids are looking to burn off some energy.
The Best Western Premier Saratoga Resort is one of the best places to stay in Orlando with a family, and we loved the time we spent there. If you are looking for an affordable option that offers all the luxurious comforts of some higher priced resorts, this is the place to stay.
