PACK A SACK PROJECT FOR CHILDREN IN NEED

Did You Know?

• 17 million children in the United States are food insecure, meaning that they do not know where or when they will receive their next meal.

• Food insecure households are 15 times more likely than food secure households to have obtained food from a food pantry. Food insecure households are also 19 times more likely than food secure households to have eaten a meal at an emergency kitchen this year.

• For many low-income children and families, food pantries provide a lifeline during the summer months when children no longer receive free school breakfasts and lunches.  Because of this need, food pantries are often strained to provide more assistance to children and families who are struggling to put their next meal on the table.

Help make sure all children have enough to eat this summer!

As part of the Champions for Kids Pack a Sack Project, we will be collecting nutritious non-perishable food items to donate to the Couleecap Monroe County Food Pantry program.

Please consider donating at least one non-perishable food item this year that may help a child from going hungry this summer.

Donations can be made by dropping them off directly at the Couleecap location at 217 N. Black River St in Sparta, Monday – Thursday, 9am to 3pm, and also at St. Joseph Equipment in Norwalk, Monday – Saturday.

If you take your donations to Couleecap, please let them know it is part of the Pack a Sack project.

Donations are always accepted throughout the year at Couleecap, but we are taking donations for this program from now until April 18th, at which time all donated items will be brought to the Couleecap Monroe County Food Pantry.
