April Showers bring May Flowers, but we want to stay out of the rain!  Welcome to the Avoiding April Showers Giveaway Event. This event is hosted by Put A Little Umbrella In Your Drink, My Mommy’s World, Taking Time For Mommy and And The Little Ones Too.

This event features giveaways with a value of $25 or more at each of the participating blogs!  For this event I had a chance to try out some wonderful Virgin Coconut Oil from Tropical Traditions.  Read my review below and enter to win some of your own!  Also, be sure to visit each blog from the linky below at the end of the post for your chance to win! This event will close on April 30th at 11:59 pm EST. Good Luck!

I had the opportunity to try Tropical Traditions’ Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil and was not disappointed!  My husband, who does a lot of the cooking around our house lately, said that he really liked it (and trust me, coming from him this a truly a compliment because it is hard to get him to say he likes anything)!  He told me the coconut oil melts nicely in the pan, and the foods have a very light coconut-y taste, which he really enjoyed.  The funny thing is I didn’t even have to ask him what he thought of it, he just came out and told me one day, “that coconut oil you got, love it!”

I have used it a few times myself since getting the jar, and I have to say I agree that it is really simple to use and the food tastes great!  I didn’t notice the coconut-y taste so much, but I guess my husband must have or he wouldn’t have said it.  I haven’t had a chance to use it in any baking recipes yet, but I can’t wait to do so!  Once I try it out, I’ll even post a recipe for you so stay tuned!

If you are unfamiliar with coconut oil, it comes in a hard form (kinda like lard), but it scoops out very easily and melts quickly.  You can use it to fry, bake, or just about anything you would normally use oil for!  In fact, Tropical Traditions provided me with this wonderful video showing you some of the many uses for coconut oil.  Take a look:
