Spring has sprung in many parts of the country, but for us in good old Wisconsin snow is still in the forecast! Will it ever end?!! To beat the winter blues, my family and I are about to embark on a family trip that only occurs every few years or so. We are headed to Disneyland! I am really excited to take the kids, because although they have been to Disney World, they have never been to California so it should be a fun experience for us all.
Maintaining Health & Wellness while traveling
Some things that I am concerned about for this trip include our overall health, as well as relieving pain problems that may come up. Cold season seems far from over as I hear from friends all over the country who are experiencing sore throats and two week long coughs. I don’t want a bug to turn our trip into a downer.
In order to be prepared I decided to head to stock up on essentials for a travel Health & Wellness kit, which should also work well for road trips when we are back home. Over-spending on the kit is not an option since travel is expensive enough already without worrying about health costs. Using quality generics is the way to go in my book. I love shopping at Walgreens already, but with #WellAtWalgreens products I know I’m going to find great products that can help keep my family healthy!
Walgreens also has the Way to Well Committment going on right now. Beginning February 1, 2011 through December 31, 2014, 1¢ from the purchase of every Walgreens Brand Health & Wellness product, up to $3 million annually, will support bringing preventative wellness services to local communities through the Walgreens Way to Well Commitment®.
Customizeable Health & Wellness Kit
Traveling with my family can be fun and stressful at the same time. Knowing my husband, who hates flying, I decided it would be a good idea to pick up some pain relievers for any headaches and body aches he might acquire while riding on the plane. Plus I’m sure one or both of us will be carrying a child or two at some point. My achy back is already so looking forward to this. 😛
My kids aren’t clumsy but they will probably end up bumping their elbow on this, banging their head on that, scraping a knee here…you get the idea. If you have kids, always expect the unexpected is my motto. I picked up a package of bandages because even with the littlest boo-boo, they are always asking for a bandage. I try to tell them that you only use them when you are bleeding but it must make them feel better to have an ouchie wrapped up. Anyone else’s kids do this?
Bonus score: When I was looking over in the first aid section I found this awesome little ‘build your own’ first aid kit that you get for free with the purchase of three first aid products. I was already buying the items anyway so of course I picked this up!
I also had to make sure to pick up some lip balm because for some reason every single one of us has trouble with dry lips. I’m thinking it is due to where we live, but since we all have this problem it is probably genetic too. My kids seem to struggle with the regular tubes of lip balm — they either push it up to far and end up breaking it off, or they push it back down too far and it gets stuck. This round shaped lip balm seems like it would work better for them and is something we could all use. I have never used it before but I’m gonna give it a shot!
Since I don’t really get to go out shopping too often I always love looking around the store to see what cool things I can find. I was taking a peek at some sunglasses, which I considered purchasing for our trip, but we all have quite a few pairs already so I just had fun trying them on. 🙂
Before I left, my daughter asked if they could have root beer floats that night. The kids don’t get treats like that all too often so I figured why not. Ice cream is good for my mental health too, right?!
This is for the kids…really. For the kids.
One thing I love about shopping at Walgreens is using the rewards program. I’m almost to the next tier to earn 5.00 back, but I didn’t even have to wait that long to get an awesome discount. I got a $10 ‘Happy Cash’ register reward coupon right then and there! I know I’m not the only one who loves getting instant gratification for shopping, am I? The Enfamil coupon will come in handy too since we are supplementing. I swear Walgreens knows exactly what I shop for!
So what ended up in my kit?
- Bandages
- Flight earplugs
- Gum
- Lip Balm
- Pain reliever
- Children’s pain & fever (hopefully we won’t need it)
- Thermometer
- Nail clippers
Here are more cool things you can add should you choose!
