I was provided with travel accommodations and other expenses to bring you this post about Disney’s Planes, all opinions are my own.
Disney’s Planes hits theaters today, and the excitement has been building in our home. I had a chance to catch the World Premier of Planes at the El Capitan Theatre in L.A., but my kids have been jumping at the bit to be able to see this movie! They were pretty excited when I brought home some Planes gear from the trip, but my son is really anxious to actually see this high flying adventure!
About Planes
The movie itself is very Cars-esque. The feel is similar in terms of the animation and character development, but the big difference is of course that most of the action takes place high above the ground. Or in Dusty’s case, low to the ground since he is afraid of heights. Who ever heard of a plane that is afraid of heights? For this main character, it is just one obstacle he will have to overcome if he is going to be the winner in the big around-the-world race.
Dusty Crophopper (Dane Cook), finds a little help along the way with a slew of fun and interesting characters. Skipper (Stacy Keach), Dottie (Teri Hatcher), and Chug (Brad Garrett) all come together to help Dusty conquer his fear of heights and train him to be a great racer, something he was not really built for.
Some of the other racers are even won over by Dusty’s charm and fun-loving attitude. He quickly makes friends with the funny El Chupacabra (Carlos Alazraqui), as they race around the world to try to defeat the ruthless reigning champ, Ripslinger (Roger Craig Smith).
One of the most interesting facts I recently learned about this movie (and you die hard Top Gun fans will appreciate this with me), is that the two fighter jets who help save Dusty in the movie are the voices of Val Kilmer and Anthony Edwards (Goose and Ice Man in Top Gun).
Is the movie worth seeing?
True to Disney style, Planes is a film that can be enjoyed by both adults and children alike. But if you have kids, it is definitely worth a trip to the theater. Although my kids were not able to be with me to watch the movie, I could tell by the reaction of the kids that were in the theater that this movie was a hit with them.
