Easy Lunch Ideas Anyone Can Do!

I say it every year. I have high-reaching ambitions when the kids are heading back to school and I just know that ‘I’m going to send my kids to school with homemade lunches‘ every day. I say this with high hopes of having the time and energy to actually plan out a lunch each day, but this year I’ve made it a priority and the kids have been going to school with a lunch packed by me on a regular basis!

Kids LunchCarrots, raspberries, turkey, peanut butter pretzel balls, Dannon® Danimals® smoothie. Trail mix is also in their lunch bags.

While my kids do still eat school lunch occasionally, but I’m super happy that I’ve been giving them healthy lunches from home as often as possible. I have even been posting pictures on my personal Facebook page to give other parents lunch ideas besides just sandwiches, which can get pretty boring after a while if you ask me (if anyone is interested in having me post these to The Mommy Bunch Facebook page please let me know and I’ll do so).

I always try to include some sort of protein, vegetables, fruit, dairy, and then a fun little treat or snack. Here is a lunch I packed earlier this year that my kids really enjoyed.

Kids Lunch Example
Strawberries & grapes, summer sausage, cheese, pita crackers, pistachios, carrots, peanut butter for dipping carrots and/or crackers, and a little treat (chocolate & raisins).

Recently, the kids have asked for yogurt in their lunch boxes. I am not a huge fan of most of the yogurt products on the market, but I found the Dannon® Danimals® products provide “Only the Good Stuff®” with no high fructose corn syrup or artificial flavors, as well as provides a good source of calcium and vitamin D. They are perfect for sticking in lunchboxes (and they just happen to fit in our lunchboxes perfectly).

Danimals Lunchbox

Since we were heading to Walmart anyway this last weekend, we grabbed some of the Dannon® Danimals® and then had a little fun packing lunches for Monday. We learned that if you find a “Golden Bongo” bottle (located in specially marked packages), you could win a Play60 Field Day for your school with NFL pros! We, of course, had to check all the bottles right away.

Even though we didn’t see a “Golden Bongo”, we still had tons of fun with these collector’s edition athletes pictured on the bottles. The winning team in our Lunchbox Challenge game got to hop into the lunchboxes. It was super cute and lots of fun to play around – don’t ever say that you don’t get to play with your food. 🙂

I always have good intentions to make something healthy every day for lunch, SOME days I will confess a fruit doesn't make it into the lunch. I LOVE your trays for their lunches! SO cute! Reply

Thanks, Jeanette. I always had good intentions in the past as well and still do -- but I don't always get around to packing something. :) These trays do help as it makes it much easier to pack everything up. Reply

I try to buy healthy items for my kids to take for lunch. I give them different options so they don't have the same lunch every day. Reply

Great lunch box ideas! I don't have small children any more, however, I'd share this with my friends who do. Danimals is a delicious drink children would love to have everyday. Reply

This is such a great idea - especially for our little one. She takes lunch every day, so keeping it interesting is an important task every day. Reply

Yes, tooth picks or mini forks -- whatever you want to call them, lol. The kids think they are fun and just another thing to make the lunch more interesting for them. :) Reply

If my son wasn't such a picky eater, this is something I'd definitely try! It's definitely a fun way to get kids to eat healthier. Reply

I like those little Danimals jars. They look like they would make lunch way more fun too, esp. for the kids who pack for school. Reply
