My husband, who typically is the one loading the dishwasher, is very particular about his dishes.  We both load the dishwasher a different way (my way is better– of course), but we also both use the dishwasher differently.  He likes to scrape, scrub, and rinse every single dish before he puts it in the dishwasher, which really just drives me nuts because I keep telling him we don’t need to do that.  I have to admit though, he has been right about some of the stuck on food not coming off after I have ran the dishwasher (you know, without scrubbing).  Don’t tell him though, we can’t let him know he was right about something.  🙂

The thing that bothers me about all this scraping and rinsing is all the extra water that gets used, he might as well just wash all the dishes by hand!  Plus, this means that the dish-washing tablets and liquids that we have been using, you know, the big name ones with all the chemicals (we won’t name any names here) are not really doing a great job.  So recently when I got the opportunity to try out Ecover Dishwashing Tablets I figured I might as well give them a try since these other ones are obviously not all they are cracked up to be.

REVIEW

When I asked my husband what he thought of the new dishwasher tablets he said, “you know, they get the dishes clean.”  I told him he was a terrible reviewer because I couldn’t just put that on the blog, lol.  What I have found so far is that they DO get the dishes clean, however, I have not had the opportunity to pop in a load w/out scraping it yet as he is always lurking by the dishwasher making sure everything is to his liking.  Even if we do end up still having to scrape, scrub, and rinse everything down, I find that since these are phosphate free and made of plant based ingredients, we are already a step above whatever we were using before.  We have been trying really hard to use as many environmentally friendly things as we can in our household, so if these deliver the same level of cleanliness as the others but offer the benefit of being good for the environment, then these win in my book!
