My kids love hanging out around the fire-pit, makings smores, and just being…kids. This year has been unseasonably warm in February and through most of March, and now in April when it should be warming up it has been really cold!
My family and I just got back from a week long vacation to Disney, so our lawn has had a chance to get seriously out of control (along with the weeds in my flower beds but that is completely another story). It has also been rainy the last few days so I haven’t had a chance to do any mowing. Today is the first day it has been somewhat decent outside so I figured it would be a great day to get the lawn mowed, and get a fire going in our new fire-pit provided by Avant Garden Decor. The kids were all for it!
So while I was busy mowing the lawn, the kids went around with the wagon gathering broken branches that had fallen off the trees in our yard while we were gone on vacation. I’m not sure what happened when we were gone but there must have been some hefty wind to have so many branches laying in the yard!
Eventually I got enough of the yard mowed to where the kids could sit comfortably in their lawn chairs, and we could get a fire going. My kids are always so helpful, if you just give them a task and/or something to do, they gladly do it! So I took the small sticks they gathered and used those to get a fire going, then took the larger ones and broke them up to get a nice flame. After a bit we had a nice sized fire, and the kids were ready to make some smores!
Even though it wasn’t raining today, it was still a little windy and cool, so I can’t say it was the ideal day, but the kids still enjoyed making a smore or two, or at least eating a few marshmallows, lol. Check out our pictures below to see the fun!
The fire-pit we used was the Copper Mission Fire Bowl, provided by Avant Garden Decor. This fire pit is different than any we’ve had before. Previously we had one that had a roof with a vent, and 4 sides that each had a screen that opened. I didn’t particularly care for that type of fire pit as it was heavy and difficult to move, and the sides would fall open if you put too large a piece of wood in. The Mission Fire Bowl was absolutely great! I like the bowl design because it was easy to stack the wood in, and I especially like the lid that comes with it. The lid did a great job of keeping the ash from blowing in our faces, and it was a great day to test for this because it was pretty windy. Overall I would highly recommend this fire pit, and I would like to thank Avant Garden Decor for providing it to my family for our use!
Now enjoy some pictures:
What do you think? I really like the design of this fire bowl. Is it something you would choose for your own outdoor space?
