Finally a tea I love! Enjoying the Mighty Leaf Holiday Tea Collection Set

Thank you to Mighty Leaf for sponsoring this post! All opinions are my own.

I have never been much of a tea drinker. It’s not that I haven’t wanted to try tea, because I have. It is more that the tea I have tried hasn’t been good and those bad teas have turned me off to even the possibility that I might actually like tea.

Don’t get me wrong, I drink iced tea and do like that, but when it comes to hot tea I guess I’ve never had a quality tea that didn’t taste bitter or just make me want to pour my cup down the drain…until now.

Mighty Leaf sent me their Holiday Tea Collection Set to try to convince me tea could really be good. Although I was a bit skeptical at first, I have heard really great things about loose leaf tea so I figured I would give it a go.

Mighty Leaf Tea Holiday Tea Collection Set – My Thoughts

holidays - tea collection

I guess I should have listened sooner when my father-in-law and sister-in-law told me that loose leaf tea was the only way to go. According to them loose leaf tea is usually high quality and tastes great. They were right! I not only liked the tea I tried, I was excited to drink more…that has never happened before!

Here is what is included in the set I received:

Curve Tall Tea Mug with Infuser15 oz. porcelain tea mug with stainless steel infuser.  Available in white or turquoise

Orange Dulce: A black tea blend that teems with bergamot, orange, vanilla, and jasmine blossoms.

Mayan Chocolate TruffleA stimulating caffeine-free herbal infusion with chocolate chips, chili, red pepper, apple, strawberry and a sweet finish

Holiday Blend: A festive blend of Chinese black tea with cranberry, orange, papaya, apple, peach and spice.

My favorite is the Mayan Chocolate Truffle. It is just sweet enough that I don’t even need to add any honey or sweetener to it (I have a sweet tooth). The Holiday Blend is quite good as well, and the fruit peels that are added give it just the right flavor. The Orange Dulce pictured below was probably the strongest of the three in my opinion, but it was still really good. I added a bit of honey to sweeten it up and found that I could really pick out the orange and vanilla.

I was also super happy with the mug and stainless steel infuser. Because I’m not a huge tea drinker, I really had no way to seep the tea and this infuser made it so simple!

Mighty Leaf Tea

So whether you are a die hard tea lover, or someone who is new to the whole experience like me, I really think the Holiday Tea collection set is the perfect gift! Not only does it come with three tasty varieties of tea, you also get a tall tea mug and a stainless steel infuser that fits right inside the mug!

About Mighty Leaf Tea

Mighty Leaf Tea is a family-owned company created by husband-and-wife team Gary Shinner and Jill Portman, who turned into reality their dream of infusing new life into the ancient indulgence of tea.  In our carefully chosen blends you will find all natural ingredients including hand-picked whole leaf tea, blossoms, herbs, fruits, and spices.  Our vibrant leaves and blossoms are too big for ordinary tea bags, so we designed our own silken, artisan Tea Pouches™.  We hand-stitch them with unbleached cotton, without using glue or staples.  Seriously, these are the largest tea pouches you have ever seen! Satiate your senses with our wonderfully full and nuanced flavors and intoxicating aromas.

Brewing tips from Mighty Leaf:

  • Prepare your tea with filtered or bottled water.  Avoid tap, distilled, or mineral water.
  • Be sure not to over-boil the water as it makes flat tasting tea.
  • For black tea and herbals, hot water is key!  Please do not let the water sit and cool before adding the tea pouch.
  • Brew green teas in water 30 to 40 degrees below boiling.  At this temperature, the steam from the kettle rises in curling wisps rather than a vertical column.  Or boil water and let it sit for 1-3 minutes before adding the tea pouch.
  • Immerse the tea pouch completely in the hot water and move it back and forth several times to maximize water flow through the bag.
  • There is a recommended brew time on the tag of our tea pouches.  Steep 4 to 5 minutes for black tea, 3 minutes for green tea, and 5 minutes for herbals.
  • Use a timer and be careful not to over-steep which can impart a bitter taste.
  • Reusing the tea pouch is not recommended.
  • Store tea in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

Enjoy your own Mighty Leaf tea for the holidays!
