I hate giving money as a gift. I feel that it is really impersonal and shows a lack of thought that went into someone’s gift, but sometimes money is what the person wants.

This year my niece was turning 23, so I wanted to give her some cash. I was very excited to try out Foldin Money – a kit that includes directions and templates that transforms ordinary cash into personalized gifts!

Each design is simple and can be made out of four or five bills. It comes with templates that you cut out, and fold the money over. The set I got included templates for a heart, a birthday cake, a tie, and a tree. I am not very crafty, so the thought of trying to make these out of money made me kind of nervous.

Even though I was worried about how it would turn out, I still thought it would be a fun gift, so I decided to try to attempt to make the heart for my niece. I started by cutting out the two heart templates that came in the pack.

It includes step by step instructions and illustrations. In less than 15 minutes I had constructed my heart, and it fit perfectly into a birthday card.

My niece thought it was pretty cool. My heart turned out ok, but I feel it looked a little sloppy. So it wasn’t as easy and foolproof as I had hoped.

I thought this kit was ok, but was kind of turned off by the fact that you actually have to tape the money to the templates. I thought it would be neat if there was a way you could actually just use the templates to guide you – and then you folded them to keep them in shape.

After speaking with Foldin’ Money, I learned that the templates give the designs stability. Plus, if you order the Red Collection Download, you are able to print as many templates as you would like so you can use these again and again!

Overall, I think the concept is very neat. It is a nice and easy way to add a personal touch when giving money. Since the kit also includes a Christmas tree, there is a good chance I will use that template this holiday season.

If you want to see both of the hearts I constructed, feel free to take a peek at our google + album and check them out!

If you have cash gifts to give this holiday season, you might want to think about making them a little more personal and fun with Foldin’ Money!
