Who doesn’t like popcorn, that is what I want to know.  Plain, buttery, extra-buttery, kettle corn, cheesy……so many options, what’s not to love?!!?!!

My family definitely has their favorites.  I looooove as much butter and salt as you can possibly put on your popcorn, my kids love cheesy stuff, and my husband is a kettle corn kinda guy and since that is all he will buy we are all kinda coming around to the kettle corn side of things. 🙂

Popcorn is generally considered a good snacking option for just about anyone, so when I heard that Orville Redenbacher’s was coming out with a few new flavors I was pretty excited to try them.  Have you ever tried those flavor shakers when you go to the movie theater?  It’s kinda like that, you get all these awesome new flavors to try and jazz up your popcorn, but now you can do it in the comfort of your home!

So not to keep you waiting, here are the new flavors that Orville Redenbacher’s is coming out with:

Don’t they just sound sooooo delicious?!

I had the opportunity to sample the white cheddar flavor, and I have to say I was really excited to try it out because in general, I really do like cheese popcorn.

Once I got the sample it took me a while to actually get to making it and eating it because my whole family got sick and we all took seriously about 3 weeks to recover.  Well I didn’t want to be sampling something and not be able to taste it, so by the time I got around to it I was so excited that I pretty much bypassed reading any directions (it’s popcorn, who needs directions!) and popped it as I normally would (no problems so far except for my 2 yr old who kept wanting to turn the microwave back on after it was done popping and try to burn it on me).

Once the popcorn was popped (again no direction reading) I opened the flavor bag, which is just a packet filled with the white cheddar seasoning, and began the process of shaking it on the popcorn to add the flavor.  This is where the direction reading may have come in handy.  You can add as much, or as little (key word here being LITTLE) as you desire.  Now I am a big fan of adding a ton of flavor to anything, especially if it is butter or salt, but this flavoring was very intense so I think a little goes a very long way.

My husband, who remember is the kettle corn guy (think sweet popcorn here), actually was the one who liked it the best, and he ended up eating almost all of it because my son (who loves cheesy popcorn) just couldn’t eat it.  I think the flavor was just too intense for him.  I thought it tasted ok, but it probably would have been better if I had laid back on the amount of seasoning and saved about half the packet or so for another time (perhaps on a plain bag of popcorn).  If you do that I think not only will you get an awesome taste experience, but you get a little extra flavoring for those times when you need to add something to the plain popcorn you already have sitting in your cupboard!  Give it a try and see what you think!

I imagine the same experience with flavor intensity will hold true for the other two flavors.  I have not yet had an opportunity to sample those, but will definitely be looking for them when they hit the shelves!
