I have been on the hunt for some healthier choices that I can offer my family, but also food that will be tasty enough that they will eat it. Since we usually spend our Fridays eating fish, I figured it would be a great time to switch it up from our normal battered and fried fish to something a little better for us.
I decided on grilled tilapia.
To my surprise, the sandwich I came up with went above and beyond my expectations, and was just plain delicious.
I chose to add in some avocado and muenster cheese, giving us an added dose of calcium and protein with the cheese; and fiber, potassium, vitamins, and heart-healthy unsaturated fats with the avocado. The hard roll I chose doesn’t have the highest nutritional value, but it isn’t the worst choice. If you are looking to cut back on carbs, you could always go with a whole grain wrap (although it is only half of the carbs in the hard roll and much less nutritional value).
I also added a little extra sauce to mine that I like on fish (a family thing), but my husband doesn’t eat his with the extra sauce.
