Recently I held a party for my daughter and some of her friends. The party was sponsored by Hearts For Hearts Girls, and I was really thrilled to be able to host this party. Hearts For Hearts Girls is a charitable doll line and fashion collection from Playmates Toys, which seeks to empower girls to become agents of change in their communities, their countries and around the world.
The line features six dolls inspired by real girls from real places allover the world. Each authentically dressed and lifelike doll has her own story to share and is working to change her community in ways unique to her home country. A portion of each doll sale is donated to a non-profit organization that helps children from that doll’s country. Playmates Toys is working with non-profit partner World Vision to make this possible.
In addition to the dolls themselves, there is a fully interactive website that lets girls discover different cultures, read about girls who have overcome challenges, and engage with the dolls through a range of activities. Each doll comes with a special code that lets girls unlock a free membership to the kid-safe website at www.hearts4heartsgirls.com. All girls are welcome to visit the website, but the special code that comes with purchase provides access to a larger array of games and also lets girls create their own “myHeart” page. This special page displays things that girls care about, ways in which they want to help girls or their community, and words to help express how they feel as a Hearts For Hearts Girl. They can change the page as often as they like!
Our party started off with everyone getting a fun Hearts For Hearts bracelet to wear. Here is the table we had setup to greet everyone as they arrived. Everyone got a bracelet and some information that included a coupon so they could purchase their own doll.
Here is one of the girls showing off her bracelet:

Since our party had a “world” theme, we played games that might be played in different countries around the world. The Mexican Hat Relay was our favorite! If you want to set up your own relay it is quite simple, all you need is the following:
Supplies:
– 2 hats, preferably sombreros
Instructions:
- Divide guests into 2 even teams (You can do this using teams as a competition, or if you don’t have enough to form teams just as a fun event to get everyone moving).
- Have both teams stand in a straight line facing each other.
- Place the hats in the center, between the teams.
- Players must race down to the hat, and do a Mexican hat dance around it 3 times before racing back to tag their next teammate. A simple Mexican hat dance includes dancing around the hat while kicking up their feet and clapping.
- The first team to have all players complete their lap wins.
At our party we also tried some flavorful dishes from around the world. The girls really liked the Indian Macaroni and Cheese Bites! To make them follow the recipe below:
Ingredients
- •1 cup macaroni
- •1/2 medium onion
- •1 medium tomato (chopped)

- •1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
- •1/4 tsp crumbled bay leaves
- •1/8 tsp ground cloves
- •1/4 tsp cumin
- •salt to taste
- •1 tsp oil
- •1 block cheese (grated)
Instructions
- 1.In a large non-stick pan, add oil and onions to saute.
- 2.In the meantime add water to a large pot and boil.
- 3.Add salt and spices to sauteed onions.
- 4.Add chopped tomato to onions and cook for three minutes.
- 5.Add water to the pan and bring to a boil.
- 6.Add macaroni and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring frequently.
- 7.Heat oven to 350 degrees and grease muffin pan.
- 8.Add grated cheese to pasta mixture, add the reserved pasta water if the mixture is too dry.
- 9.Spoon macaroni into greased muffin tins.
- 10.Sprinkle macaroni with more cheese and bake for 10 minutes or until cheese is melted.
