How do you feel about new people jumping into your life?

Today’s writing prompt from NaBloPoMo* is a tricky one for me.  You see, I’ve touched on this subject in the past with my “What’s in a Friend” post.  I’m a little leery about writing about it again, because I still feel relatively the same way I did when I wrote that first post, and I’m afraid of hurt feelings for those that may read this (more people actually read the blog now than before, so it is a possibility, lol).

With that aside, I still want to say that I am NOT afraid of having new people jump into my life.  In fact, I find it refreshing to meet new people when your “old” friends just seem to be letting you down.  I honesty wish I had more friends that I could really truly rely on for everything.  The one friend that I probably could rely on for the most part does not live close enough to count, and my other friends are all wishy-washy; they seem to be interested when it suits them and when it doesn’t interfere with their own lives.  Sad, but true.  I also wish my family lived closer, because I really believe (at least in my case) that family are your true friends and people you can always rely on.

So as far as new people jumping in, I welcome it!  What about you?  Are you afraid to take a leap and meet someone new, or are you an outgoing person who can take on the world?

*NaBloPoMo stands for “National Blog Posting Month” and is a blogging challenge created by the team at BlogHer.  I am always looking for great ideas to write about, so taking this challenge on was a sure thing for me.  I hope I can keep it up each day….check back to see if I do and make sure to scold me if I miss a day!
