Top Ways To Poop Better

Drink Water

Water can help to keep you regular, although it may not help right away if you are already constipated so be sure to maintain a consistent intake of water every day to avoid dehydration.

“Constipation occurs when stools are too hard and dry to pass easily. A good way to tell if you’re drinking enough water, experts say, is to check the color of your pee: If it’s a light, lemonade-like hue, you’re good; if not, you should be sipping more.” – health.com

Eat Fiber

Perhaps you know by now or have heard this before, but fiber really does help get the waste moving through your digestive tract. (Source)

Include foods like Brussel sprouts, cauliflower, broccoli, chia seeds, ground flax seeds, avocado, and berries into your diet. If you are experiencing constipation, fruits such as pear, grape, plum, and apples with the peel are great options as they are rich in fiber.

Prebiotics and Probiotics

The basics of it are that prebiotics and probiotics are great food for gut bacteria, stimulating their growth, which can encourage regular bowel movements.

If you are looking for some easy ways to get prebiotics into your diet, good sources are asparagus, artichokes, green (raw) banana, and brown rice. Good sources of probiotics are kombucha, fermented vegetables, sauerkraut, kimchi, kefir, and apple cider vinegar.

Exercise More

Stimulating muscle contractions throughout the body can speed up a slow colon, so get your aerobic gear on and Dance to the Oldies, or just take a brisk walk now and then. Whatever works for you to get the heart pumping!

A Toilet Stool

You’ve probably seen that infamous magical unicorn poop video by now. If you haven’t, well here you go… for your viewing, um, pleasure?

Seriously, though. I have a Squatty Potty and this thing really does help! I was a little skeptical at first, but I do seem to be able to poop better and easier by getting my legs up to assume a squatting position on the loo.

Normally when I recommend a product that I’ve tried I give you a picture of it in action, however, I don’t think that would be appropriate in this particular case so you’ll just have to take my word for it. 🙂

Health.com says, “yes, putting your legs up to assume a squatting position can help some people poop easier, says Dr. Raymond—especially those with defecation disorders (which are different from simple constipation, and can involve problems with the pelvic floor muscles). “This creates a tighter angle between the thigh bone and the pelvis,” she says, “which gives you more oomph for pushing that bowel movement out.””

Make Your Poop Smell Better

Okay, so I’m not sure you can actually make your poop smell better, however, what I’ve found is that by using the Unicorn Gold from the makers of the Squatty Potty that the smell is masked.

HOW? You simply spray into the toilet before you go (unlike those intrusive air fresheners), and then when you do your duty the spray captures the smell and pretty much flushes it away when you are done. So simple, and actually effective! And here is another fun little video just for your viewing pleasure!
