I feel great. I don’t ever feel sick, my energy is up, and I’m doing well overall. That doesn’t mean, however, that there aren’t some problems going on in my body that I don’t know about, and the only way to stay on top of my health is to make sure to get regular comprehensive health screenings to stay on top of those things that could potentially lead to really big problems later on.
Early detection is always better than finding out there is a problem in the middle of a heart-attack or some other serious health condition. While going in to see my doctor for regular screenings isn’t always at the top of my list of things to do because I feel fine, I really don’t like going in there if I don’t have to, and I’m always so busy it is hard to fit a doctor appointment into my schedule, I do know that it is important to keep an eye on things that are going on in my body.
How Do You Get a Comprehensive Health Screening Without Disrupting Your Life?
I’m busy, you are busy, we are all living busy lives. Since making appointments to see your doctor takes time, and can be tricky to fit just right into your schedule, how do you make time to get a comprehensive health screening when you aren’t even sure if you need one?
Simple. You head to one of the many MinuteClinics available throughout the country, and even better, you hop online to pre-register, go run your errands, finish working, or whatever you need to do, then pop-in after your designated wait time and you’ll be seen right away! Going to a MinuteClinic gives you access to convenient health care services without disrupting your daily life.
My MinuteClinic Visit
I registered online, then ran over to the nearest store to stock up on some baby products and fresh foods that I needed.
Once my wait time was up, I went over to the MinuteClinic and signed in at the kiosk.
I was seen right at my designated time with no waiting! If I had come early, though, they do have a nice little waiting area for you. Feel free to come a bit early if you’d like as it is possible you could be seen even before your ‘place in line’ time is up.
The practitioner that saw me was very knowledgeable, and she was sure to go over my results with me in detail to ensure I had a complete understanding of what everything meant. It was definitely great to know where I stand with my cholesterol levels, and what I need to do going forward.
What Does a Comprehensive Health Screening Tell You?
What they do is give you a little finger poke and then test your blood. It is recommended you fast for 8-12 hours for best results. The test only took a few minutes to run and I was given the results right away. The test includes a cholesterol and glucose screening as well as a weight and blood pressure check.
In my case, my cholesterol was noticeably high, which is going to need to be monitored and I’m going to have to make some diet changes. I’m really glad I went in to get this check, otherwise, I wouldn’t be aware of how my health was being affected by my food choices, and now I have some info to make the changes I need to make before it is too late.
Making Changes
Knowing where you are at is half the battle, making the necessary changes is where you really start to struggle. After getting my results, I realized that now is the time to make those changes. I’ve already started by cutting out sugar and processed foods from my diet, and I’ve taken up daily running. I’m ready to be a healthier me for myself and for my kids!
How MiniteClinic Works, in a Nutshell
1. You can now observe wait times and hold your place in line at MinuteClinic from the convenience of your computer or smartphone. It’s similar to call ahead seating used by some restaurants.
2. Once you pre-register, MinuteClinic will hold your place in the order that you register online, in our app or in person at the clinic. Don’t forget to come in approximately 20 minutes before your visit time to complete your registration.
3. It is not an appointment; you’re simply adding your name to the current list. You may still have to wait when you arrive at the clinic, as the practitioner may be seeing other patients.
