In your high school years, your style is pretty much a reflection of whatever favorite celebrity you have during that week, month, or even day. Once you’re in your 30s and 40s, however, you (hopefully) are dressing and acting much more professional. But looking your best can actually be quite tricky during your adult years.
Keep in mind… it’s not about looking great to impress other people. It’s about looking your best so you actually feel your best. Looking good can improve your confidence and both your physical and mental health. So… how do you actually improve your appearance? Here are some great tips that will help!
Revamp your wardrobe
No matter what age you are, you probably have at least 500 pairs of shirts and pants that you don’t actually wear. That’s okay. But don’t just let them pile up in your closet and take up space. Start by laying everything out on your bed (or bedroom floor if it’s really a problem) and then start purging!
Keep a few college or beer t-shirts for yard work or lounging around, but get rid of everything else that you don’t actually wear. Then, once you have only a small percentage of clothes that you plan on keeping — it’s time to go shopping! Make sure you know your sizes and measurements and then consider talking to a professional stylist to really take your look to the next level!
Take better care of your hair
Your hair is one of the first things that people will see when you first meet them, so it’s important to treat your hair with care! That doesn’t mean thoroughly washing your hair every single day, either. That can actually be bad for your hair. Instead, make sure you get a shampoo bottle that works best for your specific hair.
Normally (before balding and/or hair loss takes effect), a strand of hair grows for two to six years, goes into a resting phase for several months, and then falls out.
Figure out what makes YOU comfortable
Again, your appearance isn’t for anyone else — it’s for you! It’s nice to look your best and impress people, sure, but it’s all about what makes you comfortable.
For instance, many women aren’t comfortable with large breasts and can even develop serious chronic pain issues over time. Over 90,000 women have breast reductions every year. It’s your decision whether you want to perform certain cosmetic changes or not — but do whatever feels right and comfortable for you and you alone!
Exercise, eat right, and get enough sleep
This is actually the easiest way to get into better shape and look your best. And, doing these three things will significantly improve your quality of life. If you aren’t getting enough sleep every night, your face will look worn-down and tired. If you’re not eating right, you’re going to likely gain a lot of weight and not have too much energy throughout the day. And if you’re not working out, you’ll feel much more lackadaisical.
Research suggests that maqui berries have the potential to combat conditions associated with the following health concerns: inflammation, including heart disease, arthritis, type 2 diabetes, and certain lung conditions.
You’re not going to completely revamp your entire appearance and start feeling much better overnight — and that’s okay! It’s a long process that takes time. But as long as you’re working at it and trying to better your life, you’ll start feeling much better each day! Good luck!
