Thank you to Nature Valley for sponsoring this post, all opinions are my own.

Recently you may have read about how my husband lost 41 pounds in just two months by changing his diet lifestyle.

So what does ‘changing a diet lifestyle’ mean to us? For my husband it means cutting out pretty much all sugar, and even artificial sweeteners. This means that the only way he can have sweetened foods is by using naturally sweet foods like fruit, and even then he limits his consumption to those items that aren’t super high in sugar. One of his staple meals in his new diet is yogurt. Plain greek yogurt. To jazz it up a bit he will usually add some sliced bananas, ground almonds, and my favorite – granola.

We were provided with a sample of the new Nature Valley protein granola in cranberry almond, which is great because he needs foods high in protein since he has also cut out eating most meat products. The Nature Valley granola tastes great, and although it does have some sugars, it is not over the amount where he would refuse to eat it. We both really liked the taste of the granola, especially in yogurt. The only thing we found is that the cranberries can be a little chewy after crunching away.

For me, changing my diet lifestyle means that I am also trying to cut back on sugar, although I’m not quite as good at this as my husband. And while he has completely cut out any carbs, I still enjoy them from time to time (but not as often as I used to). In addition, I have been drinking more water.

The problem I have is that I am usually in such a rush in the morning I don’t have time to make a decent breakfast (unless my husband has his overnight oatmeal ready to go). So when I was able to try out the breakfast biscuits from Nature Valley I was really excited. A quick and easy breakfast that is satisfying as well. With 26g of whole grains and 12g of sugar in 4 biscuits this sounded okay to fit in with what I have been eating.

The biscuits do taste really good and are great for mornings when I’m really in a rush. I will say the blueberry flavor doesn’t taste like real blueberries, but I guess I wouldn’t expect anything but a real blueberry to taste like a blueberry. 🙂
