I am not gonna lie. I really thought this week was going to show some unwelcome results when I stepped on the scale. 

Eating out on Friday night at a buffet…yes a buffet.  I even went for seconds, maybe even thirds. Dessert was peach cobbler so that was at least a fruit…right?

Saturday was my families Christmas dinner, Sunday was munching all day, and Monday night was my husband’s family Christmas dinner. Yes, it was a week filled with eating, eating, eating. Needless to say, I really thought the scale was going to go in the wrong direction when I got on it Wednesday morning.

To my surprise, when I did weight myself, I had not only lost weight. I was down two pounds! I couldn’t believe it. I was really ready to jump for joy because those two pounds not only put me half way to my goal of twenty pounds, but also put me under 150 pounds.

I haven’t weighed less than 150 pounds since before my daughter was born. That means it has been about four years since I’ve seen the 140’s.


So here are a couple of things that I think may have helped me still achieve my weight loss goals, even though I was far from using the program and sticking to the Nutrisystem foods.

  1. When I ate out at the buffet, I did overeat, but trust me…I paid for it. I literally felt sick to my stomach for a couple hours afterward because I had eaten so much. Being on Nutrisystem doesn’t just provide food for you to eat, it also teaches you about portion control; something I have been pretty good at. So eating all that food I didn’t really need really just made my stomach turn.
  2. After eating out and overindulging, I went back to right portion eating. Christmas dinner at both households was not an over-indulgence.
  3. Even though I was snacking a lot, I wasn’t filling my face with every treat I could find. I had a few handfuls of popcorn here and there, and a cookie or two. Honestly, I barely ate any sweets now that I think about it!

Program Starting Weight: 159 lbs

Weight loss this week:  2 lbs

Weight after week 8: 149 lbs

Total weight loss: 10 lbs

I am halfway to my goal of twenty pounds, which I do believe I have a good chance of reaching while using the Nutrisystem program. I would love to set a new goal of an additional 10 pounds once I get there, but I want to reach this goal before I start getting ahead of myself. I am almost there!
