My family and I consider ourselves blessed to live in such a beautiful part of the country with so many outdoor activities to keep us enjoying nature year-round. We are always on the go, and always trying to find fun new places to explore within our amazing state.

When we head out, we typically pack a picnic or snack, especially if we are going biking, hiking, kayaking, or anything that takes some time. What we pack varies but it is usually some type of fresh vegetable the kids can nibble on, an easy to grab food like sandwiches, and a fun snack.

Our favorite snacks are the Nature Valley crispy creamy wafer bars from Walmart. They are easy to grab and eat, they have a great flavor, and the kids and I love them because they are just the thing to keep us going!

Our most recent adventure was to bike the Elroy-Sparta State Trail to check out one of the three old train tunnels that you’ll find along the trail.

Biking to this tunnel is always a cool treat on a hot day, and the kids love getting off the bikes to walk through and explore the cave-like tunnels.

Getting out into nature and riding on the bike trail is always a fun experience, but we sure work up an appetite after riding. Luckily for us, there is a picnic area right near one of the tunnels which makes a great place to stop for a break, use the restrooms, and enjoy our favorite snacks — Nature Valley Wafers.

We each have a favorite flavor. My youngest loves the peanut butter flavor while the rest of us really enjoy the peanut butter chocolate flavor.

These are just the thing to hit the spot and give us the energy to keep going in between meals, and before our next big adventure — like biking down a mountain!

There are two flavors to choose from. Head to Walmart and grab the Peanut Butter or the Peanut Butter and Chocolate flavors — you won’t be disappointed with either flavor!
