I am so excited that Christmas is going to be at our house this year!  I love cooking for everyone and just having everyone over to spend time together.

Last year we spent Christmas at my sister’s house, and I figured this year it was our turn (although she doesn’t quite get this every other year concept, I’m sure she’ll come around some day). Everyone else in my family will be there though, and I’m really excited to start getting everything ready!

One of my favorite things to do is decorate the house, and put out cute little displays, and of course decorate our tree.

We got a new dining room set this year, so I do have to admit I’m a little nervous about everyone eating and making a mess on the new chairs, especially the kids.

As you can see, the bench and chairs have leather surfaces, which would normally be great for easy cleaning; however, the seams are all sewn right on top of the seating area.  Any little bits that do happen to fall down onto the chairs (and with my kids it is a lot of little bits) will stain the fabric, and potentially start to build up an odor.

I can’t have that.

If your kids are as messy of eaters as mine are, you will understand my concern. I did find a great solution though! These chair covers fit my chairs perfectly, are washable, and prevent any ground in bits of food from getting stuck in the seams.

Preparing your home for the holidays – the guests are coming, the guests are coming!

So, now to make my dining room table fabulously ready for the holidays!

First… add chair covers (yeah, did that one a long time ago!!)

Second, add tablecloth with colors more suited for the season (don’t forget awesome Christmas tree in background).

Next, add a cute centerpiece (minus Easter egg)!

Add some holiday cheer to the rest of your house.

We don’t have a chimney so we hang our stockings on our banister, and I like to have some cute poinsettias around, along with a few other decorations placed around the house.

Will you be home for the holidays, or spending it traveling?

If you will be home, what do you do to get your home ready for the holidays?

If you are traveling, do you still decorate?
