Summer is almost over and wouldn’t you know it I found the perfect pair of sunglasses for my kids!  I am not kidding, my kids have gone through so many pairs of sunglasses it is not even funny.  They either fall off all the time, or they break, or they are just too big.  I have never found a great pair of kids sunglasses…until now!  I was able to try out a pair of Real Kids Shades, and I am sooooo impressed!

“Made Just for Kids

Real Kids Shades are specifically constructed to fit kids’ faces and their lifestyles. Our My First Shades line was designed with the help of a pediatric ophthalmologist for optimal fit, comfort and safety. All our sunglasses are made exclusively for infants and children in kid-approved styles that are shatterproof, impact-resistant and adaptable to sports and active lifestyles.

Kids need to be active, outdoors and in their sunglasses. Made to be worn year-round, our banded frames fit just as well under hats as they do bike helmets. Our patented neoprene bands with Velcro® adjustable closures keep them secure and in place on the court or in the yard.

Toy Sunglasses Can Do More Harm Than Good

Most children’s sunglasses are sold
as toys. Toys are great fun, but not so great at protecting something as vital as your child’s eyesight. In fact, most children’s sunglasses do not protect children’s eyes from harmful UV radiation. Don’t confuse the dark shading of lenses with their ability to filter out these harmful rays. Colored lenses on most toy sunglasses – no matter how dark – will not protect your child’s eyes.

The truth is, wearing cheap toy sunglasses can actually do more harm to a child’s eyes than not wearing anything at all. Shaded lenses without 100% UV-A/UV-B protection will relax pupils, causing them to dilate and let MORE harmful radiation into children’s eyes. What’s more, not all sunglasses with “100% UV” protection labels pass the test.”

My kids couldn’t wait to try them on from the moment they got them out of the box.  I actually thought I was only getting one pair for my daughter, but bonus…two pair came!  My son really didn’t care that they were purple, he just loved wearing them, lol.

Here we are at our last summer outing before school.  We took a trip to the zoo and the kids were chillin in their new shades, lol.

Here is my daughter on the carousel ride (yes inside, lol).  She really likes these sun glasses, or as we call them… sunny glasses!

I honestly don’t think I will ever get my kids any other kind of sunglasses (until they are old enough to buy their own of course).  These fit them so well, and they look good too.  In the entire time my kids were wearing them at the zoo, they did not fall off one time.  The sunglasses do come with a neoprene band that wraps around the back of the head, but my kids really don’t need it.  I think it is designed for smaller kids who may try to pull them off, or are not used to wearing sunglasses.

So far these pass the durability test as well.  If you have kids you know how tough they can be on things, especially sunglasses that just get tossed around when they are done wearing them.  We have a bin in the back seat of our car in-between the two car seats.  My kids can keep their stuff in the bin so it doesn’t get scattered all over.  Lets just say that things don’t always get put in there very nicely, lol.  So far the sunglasses have made it through the kid test!

Are there any cons to these?  So far I can’t think of any.  They provide 100% UV-A and UV-B protection, so they aren’t just “pretty sunglasses”, they are really good for eye protection!
