Reward yourself with a vacation or a staycation this summer

This post brought to you by IHG Rewards Club. The content and opinions expressed below are that of The Mommy Bunch.

I am so excited for this summer because for the first time in quite a while we have decided not to travel around all over the country, and instead spend some time exploring our own state. There is so much to do in our own backyard that we already have our summer plans pretty filled up.

One of the reasons is to save a little money on travel because we have quite a few home improvement projects coming up. While we are not traveling long distances, we still need to find places to rest our heads as Wisconsin is a big state and traveling from one side to the other takes quite a bit of time.

This is why I love finding hotels that offer reward programs. The more we stay the more we can earn free stays. Of course, that doesn’t mean finding the most expensive place to stay either (my husband is the king of finding discount hotel stays), but it does have to be a place that I would feel as comfortable as at home. The one hotel chain that fits the bill for both me and my husband is the IHG chain of brands. They offer amazing hotels with great hospitality, and the rewards program is an added bonus!

Staycationing in Wisconsin

So far this year we have already gone hiking in the Wildcat Mountain State Park, visited the Deer Park at Wisconsin Dells, biked the Elroy-Sparta State Trail, and have lots more trips planned — some of which are going to require an overnight stay.

It looks like you're having a fun summer staycationing! That is pretty much what we're doing too. We've been going to the $1 theater to see the movies we've missed. It is fun :) Thanks for sharing the program as well. Reply

I think this is a really great points system. I've read about it here and some other places, and what's really selling me is the fact that I can share them. Reply

This sounds like a neat way to earn more vacations! We use our timeshares every year but if we didn't have that, this would be great. Reply

Good for you for having a good time in your own state. We do a lot in our state of Pennsylvania, but we also do a lot of traveling to other states. Both are fun. Reply

I lived in Wisconsin for a year or so and there are some really nice places to go. I totally agree with staycations, Michigan also has so many things to offer that there really isn't a lot of reason to go elsewhere! Reply
