sparkling watermelon spritzer

It’s summertime! That means sunny days at the pool, late nights chasing fireflies, and tasty beverages to keep us cool. Of course those extra summertime treats don’t have to always mean loaded with sugar; in fact we can make some pretty healthy drinks and snacks that our kids will love!

In order to get my kids away from the normal juice boxes and other sugar laden beverages I decided to try my hand at making my own super simple summertime sipper. My Sparkling Watermelon Spritzers turned out fantastic, and the kids just loved drinking them! These are non-alcoholic, but you could of course add in a little beverage of your choice to liven it up a bit for the adult crowd.

Super simple summertime Sparkling Watermelon Spritzers

fresh fruit pour juice

The thing that makes this drink stand out is that there is absolutely no sugar or processed juice added at all. Everything is completely fresh and fantastic. The only addition other than real fruit is some sparkling water (not club soda or other carbonated beverages that contain added ingredients, just pure water that has been bubblified!)

What really makes this recipe easy is the Fresh Fruit Bowl (available exclusively at Bed Bath and Beyond). It is a 3-piece Bowl that keeps watermelon and cut fruit fresher longer by keeping the fruit away from the juices that drip off. Those juices drip down to the bottom of the bowl and can be conveniently poured off using the handy spout right on the bowl. This makes getting fresh juice for this recipe super easy!

You can also prep the fruit ahead of time and store in the refrigerator. Not only will you have even more natural fruit juice ready for you when you are set to make these spritzers, it will be cold as well!

Enjoy!
