Have you ever had a banana pizza? I hadn’t either until I decided to try my hand at making one. I have to be honest, I was a little nervous about how it was going to turn out. I have had Hawaiian pizza before (pineapple and ham), but to add a banana was a pretty big stretch. Luckily it turned out fantastic, and everyone enjoyed every little bite!
You may be asking yourself, “why in the world would she decide to make a banana pizza?”
The answer is pretty simple actually, I was entering a contest. In the Chiquita Cooking Lab contest you are given three main ingredients that must be used in your recipe, and then you can use whatever other ingredients you like. The ingredients for the week of my submission were bananas, spinach, and pineapple. Pizza of course came to mind for my recipe!
The other ingredients I used were just standard pizza ingredients: pizza sauce, sliced ham, fresh mozzarella cheese, and I used a pre-made pizza crust to save time. You simply roll out the crust into your pan, layer your ingredients, and bake!
Look at how delicious this turned out!
Taking that first little bite of a piece with banana on it was interesting, then WOW! I couldn’t believe the flavor, it was so good. My kids loved it too and they kept asking for more!
We will definitely be making this again but next time I think I may use a little more cheese. There were slices that were sparse on the cheese due to the large size of pizza I made, and if you know me, I’m a cheese girl through and through so more cheese is a must!
