Did you know that your body does not store protein like it does fat and carbohydrates? This means if we want our body to have protein, we need to give it protein!

If you want to increase your protein consumption, Mayo Clinic recommends choosing your protein wisely. They say good choices include soy protein, beans, nuts, fish, skinless poultry, pork, and lean beef. Avoid processed meats.

Making a Lifestyle Change

My husband and I have found that by changing the way we eat permanently (not just a short term change for short term results), we both feel much better, and have even lost weight. We know that it is a result of a well-balanced diet. Cutting out processed foods, especially sugar-laden foods, has been the key to our success. If we feel a bit of hunger, we just grab something that is high in protein to snack on like a string cheese stick.

The one thing that has been a great change for me is switching to soymilk lattes. I actually never thought about switching before, but I don’t really care for the taste of milk to begin with and always had to add sugar to make it taste better, so when I noticed that the Silk soymilk has protein, calcium, and is GMO free – I had to try it!

SILK Soy Latte

What a difference! I cannot believe I haven’t done it this way all along. The taste using the vanilla Silk soymilk makes my latte so good that I don’t need to add a bunch of sugar, just a bit of whipped cream on top. 🙂

Just remember, the best eating plan is one that you can stick to long-term. Try to stay away from fad diets and make changes that you can stick with for a lifetime.
