While my youngest is almost out of diapers (hopefully), we still deal with bouts of diaper rash whenever he isn’t feeling well.

Any parent who has a child with any discomfort wants to help them soothe diaper rash pain quickly! So how can you do that and help your little guy/gal feel better?

Soothe Diaper Rash Pain Quickly

Recently, my son had a stomach bug and didn’t want his diaper changed because he knew it would hurt. Luckily, he is at the stage where he can communicate with us very easily so I knew what the issue was and reassured him I could soothe diaper rash pain with a little ‘butt cream’, as well call it.

Our ‘butt cream’ is the DESITIN Rapid Relief Cream, as it is the only product I’ve found that works really fast at soothing the pain and clearing up the rash. We can apply one time and the rash will practically be gone by the next diaper change. That is fast!

Now, whenever we go to change his diaper he always says “I need butt cream” even if he has no rash. But the DESITIN worked so effectively that even my 2yr old knows that it’s worth having on your bum!

Treat Diaper Rash

There are three important steps that can help bring diaper rash under control and help your child feel better.

Clean

Keep the bottom area as clean as possible by changing diapers right away. Be sure to check for soiled diapers every two hours, especially if your child is prone to not letting you know when they have soiled the diaper.

If you have a sick child or child with diarrhea, be sure to check more often as the bacteria in the stool can irritate the skin and cause a problem quicker.

Dry

One key step to healing diaper rash is keeping the area clean and dry. Once you have finished cleaning your baby’s bottom, pat it dry (no rubbing!) before applying a thick barrier of protection.

If you can manage it, allow your baby to go without a diaper for a little while to let his/her bottom air-dry and then apply a thick barrier of protection when you do re-diaper.

Protect Skin

Applying a barrier ointment or paste protects the skin from further injury and can allow the skin to heal. It can also prevent friction from the diaper which can further irritate the skin or cause pain.

Apply a thick layer of DESITIN Rapid Relief Cream at each diaper change to soothe and protect your baby’s irritated skin. DESITIN Rapid Relief Cream glides on easily to instantly form a protective layer on your baby’s skin to soothe and relieve rash discomfort. In fact, 88% of moms agreed that nothing works faster to soothe diaper rash pain.
