tortilla stack-ups

I really love to have people over and entertain. However, when it comes to snacks and appetizers, I am afraid I suffer from a lack of creativity. I usually end up grabbing chips and premade dip because I can’t think of anything else, or I don’t have much time. I was really excited to try the Stackable Appetizer Maker over the holidays and bring something different, creative, and tasty to our gatherings.

The Stackable Appetizer Maker comes with the main body, a tamper to press down each layer, and a spreader/serrated knife, and cookbook with 40+ recipe suggestions. It stacks together neatly for convenient storage, and is dishwasher safe. The great thing about this gadget is that no matter how simple your ingredients are, the end result looks so fancy! It looks like you spent hours in the kitchen!

I decided to try out the Appetizer Maker for some holiday parties. Again, I was lacking time and creativity – so I decided to use one of my standby recipes of tortilla roll-ups (the recipe is below). I started off by cutting my tortilla shells into two inch strips. I mixed the rest of my ingredients together. I placed the first tortilla strip down, then a layer of cream cheese filling, a layer of cheese, and used the tamper to press it all together. I repeated until the top of the stack. I knew using this recipe could be a little tricky – since the filling was so mushy and I thought it would be hard to press each layer without losing a lot of filling. A little squirted out on the sides, but overall, I was very happy with the ease of it.

Instead of rolling my tortilla rollups into rolls like usual, these turned out beautiful with layer after layer of goodness. It didn’t take any longer than normal, but it looks like it did! They turned out very delicious, and looked more exciting than my normal recipe. I am very excited to try new recipes out. The possibilities are endless! I promise this kitchen gadget will make you look and feel like a culinary genius!
