I have heard about Buzz, Woody, and the gang non-stop for at least the last year straight. My three year old never stops playing with his favorite characters, and we’ve had to watch each movie in the series at least a dozen times. #MomLife

And now with Toy Story 4 now in theaters, it’s all I hear about. My kids are dying to go see it and even more excited to eventually be able to bring a copy home to watch over, and over, and over…

Did We Need Another Toy Story Sequel?

I have to admit, I’m a bit Toy Storied out. Even still, I am a bit curious to see what the latest movie in the lineup is going to be about. The previews look cute, and the reviews seem to teeter on the film being pretty good, even if it may be an unnecessary sequel in the lineup.

NEW TOY? – Everyone’s favorite pull-string cowboy sheriff Woody, along with his best friends Buzz Lightyear and Jessie, are happy taking care of their kid, Bonnie, until a new toy called “Forky” arrives in her room. According to Forky, a spork-turned-craft-project, he’s not a toy at all—and he’d rather skip this big adventure completely, if only they’d let him. Tom Hanks, Tim Allen and Joan Cusack return as the voices of Woody, Buzz and Jessie, and comedian Tony Hale lends his voice to Forky. Directed by Josh Cooley (“Riley’s First Date?”) and produced by Jonas Rivera (“Inside Out,” “Up”) and Mark Nielsen (associate producer “Inside Out”), “Toy Story 4” ventures to U.S. theaters on June 21, 2019. ©2018 Disney•Pixar. WTOP.com says, “The “Toy Story” trilogy was perfect. The 1995 original changed filmmaking forever as Pixar delivered the first-ever digitally animated feature film with unforgettable Randy Newman tunes and a Buzz and Woody buddy comedy to “infinity and beyond.” The impressive feat earned a spot on the American Film Institute’s list of the Top 100 Movies of All Time.

The sequels rose to the challenge, as “Toy Story 2” (1999) introduced the cowgirl sidekick Jessie to prove that sequels could still strive for greatness, and “Toy Story 3” (2010) gave us all the feels as Andy went off to college and said goodbye to his favorite childhood playthings.

Now, we get “Toy Story 4,” which like last week’s “Men in Black 4″ doesn’t really need to exist, but unlike “Men in Black 4,” it at least features its original cast members for a fun nostalgia ride at the movie theater and an enjoyable family outing this summer blockbuster season.

So even if we didn’t need another Toy Story movie, I think fans are okay with it and had a lot of fun watching the new characters (from all the reactions I’ve read so far). My family and I have yet to see the movie but we’ll be heading out this weekend for sure!
