Travel may have been off the table for much of 2020 but, as the world re-opens, you can begin to plan your getaway. Whether you’re traveling for business or pleasure, you’ll want to ensure you look your best. With these handy travel beauty tips, you can banish signs of jet lag and maintain a flawless complexion wherever you are:
1. Steer clear of in-flight alcohol
If you’re nervous about flying or you simply want to get your trip off to a fun start, you might be tempted to enjoy one or two alcohol drinks after take-off. However, alcohol can dehydrate the skin, which will exacerbate any flaws, such as fine lines, and make your skin your drier.
Combined with the recycled air in airplane cabins, alcohol is a sure-fire way to end up with skin that’s drier than the Sahara. If you dream of touching down with a dewy, fresh-faced complexion, stay hydrated with water instead and treat yourself to a rejuvenating hydration spray for your skin.
2. Protect yourself from the sun
Wherever you’re traveling to, make sure you know the type of weather to expect upon your arrival. If you’ll be spending time in a climate that’s hotter than you’re used to, you’ll certainly want to protect your skin from the sun’s rays. If you’re unsure what level of sun protection you need, you can access expert advice from brands like Clarins. As well as using sun protection before going out, be sure to pamper your skin afterward too. Dedicated after sun products are a great way to nourish your skin and prevent it from peeling after you’ve spent time in the sun.
Remember – the sun’s rays can be harmful, even if you don’t feel too hot. High winds or cloud cover can make temperatures lower, but this doesn’t mean you can safely go outside without protecting your skin.
3. Get some rest
A bad night’s sleep can wreak havoc on your skin and consistently poor-quality sleep can be even worse. If you’ve got a long-haul flight ahead of you, try and catch up on your rest by taking good quality earplugs or headphones with you. A travel pillow is also essential if you’re hoping to sleep during the flight.
If you have trouble sleeping anywhere but your own bed, remember to pack some home comforts too. Taking your own pillowcases, using a sleep-inducing linen spray, or enjoying a warm bath before you hit the sheets can help to ensure you get a decent rest while you’re away. When you’re well-rested, your skin will naturally look better and you’ll have the energy to ensure you look flawless at all times!
Making the Most of Your Travel Time
When you’re whiling away the hours waiting to land or trying to keep yourself entertained waiting for your flight to board, make the most of the opportunity to pamper your skin. Hydrating, nourishing, and soothing products are ideal for pre-flight and in-flight use. As well as keeping yourself busy, you’ll find that traveling can do wonders for your skin when you put your time to good use.
