This year I have been all about getting creative with my kids, and just enjoying the everyday things.

Since I am usually not that creative of a person to begin with, I really had to come up with some fun ways to keep my kids entertained, while being able to do fun projects together.

One thing my kids like to do is help me out in the kitchen, but we’ve made so many different cookies, I figured it was time to try something new. So when we were at Sam’s club recently, I got a little inspiration when I was in the freezer section.

I saw the bag of Tyson chicken nuggets and just knew that using them for a fun dinner with the kids would be just perfect. Instead of decorating cookies, why not decorate chicken nuggets! I mean, why do cookies get to have all the fun — right!

The first thing we did while our chicken nuggets were baking in the oven was to get out our “ingredients.” Every artist needs the right tools, so we grabbed ours.

The first thing was different sauces for “painting” on our nuggets.

Toothpicks, paintbrushes (that have not been used in paint), french fries, peas, and green beans were also in our repertoire to add fun to our nuggets!

After all of our ingredients were assembled, we got to work having fun making characters out of our nuggets. My kids were totally surprised that they actually got to play with their food! It was so much fun watching them just have a ball creating things with their nuggets, and then eating them all up when they were done.

Painting nuggets with smiley faces and spots for pea eyes.

We had so much fun decorating and eating our nuggets, this is definitely something we will be doing again! You can check out our entire experience in my Google + album!
