I’m so excited that my youngest daughter is getting to the age where she loves to explore new toys and try new things. Although this age-range comes with a lot of mischief (as she is learning about the world around her and getting into everything), it also comes with a lot of fun.
I love finding toys for her that help encourage that sense of discovery, while still providing some safe ways for her to play. The VTech Go Go Smart Animals Zoo Explorers Playset that I was recently sent to review is a great option for her. It does require some assembly, which my older two kids were more than willing to help with, but after everything is put together and the track is built — the fun can begin!
The Go! Go! Smart Animals™ Zoo Explorers Playset™ includes:
- A SmartPoint™ rhino who can take your child on a tour of the zoo as he responds to the zoo’s seven different SmartPoint locations with different phrases, music and fun sounds.
- The ability for children to strengthen their motor skills with eight manipulative features including a turning gate, spinning water tank and sliding elevator.
- Colorful tracks that can be reconfigured or connected to other Go! Go! Smart Animals or Go! Go! Smart Wheels playsets (each sold separately) to encourage children’s creativity.
- An electronic entrance that teaches animal names, animal traits, letters, colors and plays music.
All three kids (aged 7, 5, and 9 mo) really seemed to be taken with this playset. My son loved that it was a track he could drive things on. He loves tracks and cars so I guess he figured his cars would go perfectly with this. We limited it to the rhino for now though, and that thing could really zoom down that track!
My daughter loved that she could show the baby how to make the rhino move around and get it to respond at the smartpoint locations. The rhino said a different phrase at each location and it was fun watching the kids figure out where all the spots were.
Baby girl just really seemed to love that little penguin that came in the set.
No matter where we put the penguin, she always seemed reach for that little guy first. I guess it was just the right size for her, or something about it caught her eye, but she was really taken with it because it was always in her hand!
All in all, I really like this set. It was very easy to put together, and the track can really be assembled in any configuration you like so the kids can get creative with it. The talking characters are fun, and the moving parts of the track add to the fun of playing.
The Zoo entrance also plays music and has some buttons that can be pushed to help learn colors and abc’s. It is a nice added feature to an already fun playset.
The recommended age range is 1-5yrs, but my youngest daughter is 9mo and she seemed to enjoy it just fine. The older ones like it too so I think this is a really versatile toy. Definitely something to consider if you are looking for a great interactive toy that also offers opportunities for creative play.
