If you are a Jeep enthusiast you are probably always looking for a new trail where you can take your Jeep off-road and test the limits. Texas has lots of wide-open space, but there also a lot of trails to explore that let you take in the beauty of nature while you enjoy the adventure of driving.
Jeep Trails In Texas
West Texas offers two trails that are pretty popular, Kermit Sand Hills and Red Sands. Both have dunes up to 20 miles wide and some camping areas. It can get pretty hot in this area, though, so be sure to bring plenty of water.
East Texas has a larger selection of trails, including Barnwell Mountain Recreation Area which has 3,700 acres of land to explore. Other sites include Gator Run Offroad Park, TMTC Barnwell Mountain Rec, and Northwest OHV Park.
The Panhandle allows off-road enthusiasts to enjoy free riding and camping at The Canadian River and Lake Meredith.
Rocky Ridge Ranch of North Texas is a private facility that offers steep hill climbs, stream crossings, and jumps. If you are closer to the Gulf Coast you can try out Xtreme Off Road Park and Beach.
Before trying out any of these off-road destinations, be sure to call ahead. Some are only open certain days of the week or on weekends. A park could also be closed for a private event.
