Summer seems like the ideal time to head to a waterpark and have a little fun in the sun, but did you know that Wilderness Resort in Wisconsin Dells is open year-round for splashing good fun any time of the year?! Wilderness Resort in Wisconsin Dells is the largest waterpark resort in America with four indoor and four outdoor waterparks, as well as loads of attractions for continued fun when you get out of the water.

Wilderness Resort – Attractions

My family and I were invited to visit Wilderness Resort this past month to try out some of the newest attractions first hand. Let me tell you, my kids were almost more excited to do the attractions than they were to experience all of the waterparks!

Here’s what we loved when we weren’t splashing around in the water at Wilderness Resort in Wisconsin Dells.

Room Escapes

None of my kids had ever done a room escape before our visit, but after trying out the Circus Escape (kids 10 and under) and the Twister Escape (ages 8 and up) I am pretty sure they are going to be asking me to do another one soon.

My two youngest, my husband, and I tackled the Circus Escape and had a ton of fun solving the clues together. My four and six-year-old kids were really into it, and the décor in the room is perfect for kids of that age.

My littles did great, and we got all the circus animals back into their train cars just in the nick of time!

The older kids and I tackled the Twister Escape room and made it into the storm shelter with only 5 minutes to spare! At first we were unsure what to do, but once we started figuring out the clues it was a race against the clock before the twister took all of grandma’s prized possessions.

If you are looking to split up your day while at Wilderness Resort, I highly recommend trying out one of the escape rooms!

Take Flight

The Wilderness Resort’s newest attraction, Take Flight is an awe-inspiring, exhilarating trip around the country and back home again. It’s an aerial adventure that starts off right in Wisconsin Dells!

The ride is the first flying theater of its kind in the Dells and gives you the sensation of flight as your seat moves to enhance your experience.

Both hotel guests and the general public can experience Take Flight as it has its own separate entrance and building. My kids and I really enjoyed the ride, and I especially loved flying through some of the national parks as the scent of pine wafted through the air. The added little touches made it a more realistic experience. My youngest was in awe throughout the entire flight, and even my oldest thrill seeker thought it was a fun experience.

Take Flight is open from 9 am to 11 pm on weekends and from 9 am to 10 pm on weekdays. Riders need to be 42 inches tall to ride. Tickets are $19.99 for adults and $15.99 for kids 12 and under. If you are a Wilderness guest, you get a $5 discount on your ticket price! You can purchase tickets in the stunning newly renovated New Frontier Lobby.

Northern Lights Sky Ropes Course

I cannot tell you how many times my kids wanted to do this, but it was a lot! If you purchase an unlimited fun pass, you can do the ropes course and many of the other attractions, as many times as you want. As often as my kids were dangling from a rope above the arcade climbing around obstacles, it’s a good thing they could do it an unlimited number of times!

Even my kid who is afraid of heights conquered his fear and made his way around all the levels of this challenging course.

My 6 yr old daughter tried it for the first time as well and I am pretty sure she’s hooked!

Wilderwoods Go-Kart Trail

This two-story indoor go-kart track was a hit with all my kids. With two kids old enough to drive on their own and two kids who could ride along with mom and dad, we had a ton of fun racing around the track.

I think everyone had their favorite attraction, and for this it was my youngest kept asking to go again and again. The go-karts are another thing included with the unlimited fun pass.

Lost Cabin Laser Tag

We’ve done laser tag at the Wilderness Resort more times than I can count. I can remember when laser tag was across from Klondike Kavern, and then when it was moved way down to the old lobby location (the lobby has been completely renovated this year and is fabulous!), but in its new location, the laser tag arena is close to many of the other attractions you love in Dodge ’em City.

Since there is no age limit for this new fantastic attraction, and it is on the Fun Pass, we were all able to enjoy the thrill of battling in a free for all game! Mom (code name Owl) was the winner just about every time, of course. I do have just a little bit of a competitive side, after all. I also may or may not have had a 4 yr old spy on my side. Shhh!

Wild Abyss indoor Mini Golf

This indoor, black-light, mini-golf course features huge tropical aquariums with live sea creatures and fish that you can view as you make your way around the nine holes. My youngest kids really enjoyed taking a peek at all the little swimming critters, and everyone had fun trying their luck at getting a hole-in-one (a few of us did!).

My 6 yr old daughter had a blast doing mini-golf with me and wanted to go again and again. It was that darn 9th hole that got us every time. You only get one shot to make the put or game over… so we played and played until she could finally get it!

While there are more attractions than just those listed here, we just didn’t have time to get to them all! You can view all the attractions by clicking here. My oldest daughter is begging me to do the zip-line so I’m sure we’ll be back to do that yet this year!

We’re Here For The Water

It wouldn’t be a trip to a waterpark hotel if you didn’t actually get in the water, right?! The Wilderness Resort has some of the best water parks in all of Wisconsin Dells. When you head to the resort for your stay, you’ll have plenty of options for swimming and having fun.

Indoor waterparks include Klondike Kavern, the Wild Waterdome, Wild West, and Cubby’s Cove.

The outdoor parks (seasonal) are New Frontier, Lake Wilderness, Lost World, and Cubby’s Outdoor waterpark.

You can read more about all the water parks here, or see my previous blog posts where I talk specifically about some of our favorites: Great Fun at Wilderness and Visit Wilderness Resort.

Wilderness Hotel – Places To Stay

Whether you choose to stay at Wilderness Hotel, Glacier Canyon, Wilderness On The Lake, Wilderness Hotel Villas, or the Wilderness Hotel Condos & Cabins, there is a comfortable stay awaiting you and your family.

We’ve personally stayed in the hotels and the cabins. Depending on your needs both are great options. When we brought our extended family, the cabins were a great solution to allow enough space for everyone to stretch out. This time we had a hotel room that fit our large family comfortably. With two double beds and a pullout sofa, there was plenty of room for everyone to sleep.

I would also like to note how clean the rooms were. Perhaps it’s because we run our own Airbnb property and I notice these things more now, but everything was sparkling clean.
